About Buyout Desk

How the data works and what we track.

What is Buyout Desk?

Buyout Desk is a private equity deal news feed. Every morning, it publishes a fresh list of PE acquisitions, add-ons, recaps, and exits announced in the last 24-48 hours. The goal is simple: give deal professionals a fast, clean way to see what happened overnight in PE.

How deals are sourced

Deal data is compiled from 144+ sources across three categories:

  • Press wiresBusinessWire, GlobeNewswire, PR Newswire, and PE-specific news sites.
  • Web searchTargeted searches for PE acquisitions across industries and sectors.
  • Firm sitesDirect monitoring of 144+ PE firm news pages and portfolio company sites.

Data quality

Each deal is assigned a confidence level (high, medium, or low) based on how clearly the source confirms PE involvement. Buyout Desk only displays high and medium confidence deals. Low confidence and unclear deal types are filtered out before publication.

Deals are deduplicated across all sources before being published. Two deals are considered duplicates if they share the same target company name, are announced within 2 days of each other, and have at least one matching party (buyer, sponsor, or platform).
