PlayMetrics, a portfolio company of Genstar Capital, acquired youth-sports application SportsEngine from Versant Media Group Inc., the owner of the Golf Channel and E!.
The deal was announced on May 4, 2026; financial terms were not disclosed.
SportsEngine, founded in 2008, provides digital tools that allow parents to manage team rosters, collect payments, and communicate with players’ families.
PlayMetrics operates as a competitor in the same segment and is backed by private equity firm Genstar Capital.
Bloomberg News reported in October 2025 that Versant had retained Lazard Ltd.
to seek a buyer in a transaction that could value SportsEngine between $400 million and $500 million.
